Become an Oregon Beach Ambassador!

Written by bgoodwin | May 2, 2018 6:48:10 PM

Do you like long walks on the beach? Do you often find yourself picking up trash on those walks?

If you answered yes to both questions, we want you for our Oregon Beach Ambassador Pilot Program! *This program is currently being piloted in Florence and Newport (participants must live near one of those communities). If the pilot is successful, we hope to take this program coast wide!

By recording the marine debris you collect during beach cleanups, you can help Oregon reach its highest marine debris research priority - Identify the sources, quantity, and types of marine debris in Oregon!

Why do we need to know the types and quantities of marine debris on our beaches? By fully understanding the answer to these questions, and having data to back it up, we can develop policies and outreach tools to stop marine debris at its source.

So, do you have what it takes to be a Beach Ambassador? The role is simple - collect data using the Marine Debris Tracker App at least once per month for one year.

What's in it for you? Warm fuzzies from knowing you're helping the environment. Also...we'll hook you up with some rad gear! Each Beach Ambassador will receive a cleanup kit (bucket, high quality grabber, and first aid kit) along with exclusive Beach Ambassador gear (jacket, hat, and bag).

Full details can be found on the Oregon Beach Ambassador Pilot Program Flier.
