The next Oregon Ocean Policy Advisory Council (OPAC) meeting will be held in Florence on June 5th at the Florence Events Center. This is a good chance to learn more about some of the various issues affecting and being worked on within Oregon's Territorial Sea (0-3 nautical miles).

Oregon Policy Manager Gus Gates giving public comment at a previous OPAC meeting.

The agenda can be found here along with more info. There will be an opportunity for citizens to provide public comment if interested at 1:30 pm, OPAC is interested in hearing from the public on issues of concern or interest relating to ocean health.

There will be several new members joining OPAC at this meeting for the positions of Statewide Conservation, Coastal Ports, and OCZMA seats. Fred Sickler, who has been a tireless advocate for ocean recreation over the past 8 years in this position will be stepping down. Please join us in giving a huge KUDOS to Fred for all of his hard work over the years on many complex issues like marine reserves, territorial sea planning and others.

Feel free to reach out to Oregon Policy Manager Gus Gates at ggates@surfrider.org if you are interested in attending the meeting, or want to discuss a topic of interest.
