Mt Bachelor holds the first event of its kind inspired by none other than legendary surfer and Mt. Bachelor Ambassador, Gerry Lopez (also a guest judge for the event!). This snowboard only event will be held in the slopestyle arena under the Pine Marten Chair.  A series of huge sweeping banked corners, quarter pipes and spines will be shaped into wave-like features for a flowing course bringing the surf to the mountain. The Big Wave course finishes at the bottom with a long spine for slashes on the right or the left and ending into a wide slasher bowl. Riders will be judged on the same elements as a Big Wave surf competition; control, speed and power. Registration proceeds go to the Oregon  Chapters of Surfrider Foundation. To register or learn more about the event - go here!
$20 competitor fee - limited entry.  The Big Kahuna's in both the male and female divisions will win a custom Gerry Lopez Surfboard!

The Big Wave Challenge will be followed by a Luau in the Clearing Rock featuring traditional luau cuisine along with live music featuring Bend's local Hawaiian musician, Bill Keale
