This little graph furnished by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is a startling reminder for why water quality monitoring is important. It demonstrates that over the past years, recreational water disease outbreaks have been on the steady incline.

On the heels of EPA's new recreational water quality standards, this alarming graph only underscores the need to continue BEACH Act funding to support coastal states' beach monitoring programs. The President's previous budget cut this crucial funding from the EPA budget and we're working hard to get that funding back in front of the executive branch for inclusion.
