Hey Oregon crew, Charlie here...It’s with bitter-sweetness to announce that I have accepted the Oregon Policy Manager position for Surfrider Foundation. For the past 7 and half years it’s been my extreme honor and pleasure to serve you guys in the capacity of Oregon Field Manager for Surfrider Foundation. We’ve grown so much together, both individually and organizationally as a powerful activist force for Oregon’s ocean, waves and beaches. I have no doubt that we’ll continue to grow and strengthen our organization both through your chapter leadership and under the support of the new Oregon Field Coordinator hire.
I’m certainly not going anywhere, and will continue to be deeply involved in our chapter work, just within a different capacity. I’m excited to take the past years of local community work and knowledge to the next level and share the lessons learned to better represent your important chapter work at the state and regional level. The Oregon Field Coordinator position is now posted officially on the Surfrider national site.
In the meantime, I’ll be continuing to support chapters as I don’t expect we’ll wrap up the hiring process until late October at the earliest. It will take a little while to get the new hire up to speed and get him/her well engaged and I don’t expect this to happen quickly, so your patience during this transition process is much appreciated.
Thanks again to all for your strong work an support over the past 7 years. Your zest and enthusiasm for executing our mission at the local level has made my job large, but extremely rewarding and I’m excited to represent you in a new capacity for Surfrider in Oregon. Onward!
