We're happy to announce that Surfrider has hired Briana Goodwin as our new Oregon Field Manager! Briana moved to Oregon in 2008 and has been a supporter of Surfrider Foundation since her arrival. She's partnered with Surfrider staff and volunteers, along with other ocean advocates, on numerous marine conservation projects in Oregon, including lead Coordinator for the Port Orford Ocean Resource Team, kickstarting the Redfish Rocks Marine Reserve Community Team and working as SOLVE's Statewide Beach Cleanup Coordinator.
Briana received her Master's in Marine Resource Management from Oregon State University in 2015 where she researched community-based decision making processes. Most recently, her work has focused on marine debris, coordinating both the West Coast Marine Debris Alliance and the development of the NOAA's Oregon Marine Debris Action Plan. In her free time, you can find her exploring on foot or bike with her adventure loving dog, Bella. Briana has a passion for international travel, but is always happy to return home to Oregon.
Her official start date is June 19th and so expect to be hearing from her soon and meeting her at Chapter events on an intro tour with Charlie and Ryan soon. Briana brings a breadth of experience to the position and we are excited to have her applying her skills and passion for Oregon's coast to supporting our chapter network!
Onward and Upward for Surfrider Oregon!
