Rockfish and Marine Reserves

This past week, Oregon Public Broadcasting did a fantastic Field Guide piece on the Redfish Rocks Marine Reserve, highlighting some of the really cool research that's been going on down there since the reserve has been in place. Be sure and check this piece out!

For years, Surfrider Foundation has been a partner in the Port Orford community to help with the establishment and implementation of the Redfish Rocks Marine Reserve. From the beginning, the Port Orford fishing community large has been wrestling with fishery regulations, competing with larger outside boats and generally concerned about the welfare of the small, but critical industry to the tiny port. From early adoption of a Stewardship Area to the designation of Redfish Rocks Marine Reserve, this is a caring community for greater science and management within it's nearshore ocean waters. Watch!
