A public hearing on Senate Bill 737 has tentatively been scheduled for April 24 by the Environment and Natural Resources Committee. The Bill would direct the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) to phase out the discharge of bioaccumulative toxins into our rivers and ocean at levels that may be harmful to aquatic or human health. The hearing is scheduled to take place at 3pm in Room B at the State Capitol (900 Court Street NE, Salem, Oregon 97301). Demonstrating public support for reducing toxic discharges into our waters is critical to moving the bill forward, so please consider attending the hearing. Or alternatively, PLEASE participate in Action Alert below. Fyi hearings may be subject to schedule changes so feel free to confirm with Pete pstauffer@surfrider.org before you go.
