Surfrider Keeps the Summer Stoke at Otter Rock Marine Reserve

In keeping up with Surfrider Foundation Newport Chapter's interest to support the longterm stewardship, science and recreational stoke at Otter Rock Marine Reserve, the chapter is hosting up a ton of awesome activities this summer and is in search of volunteers! Whether surf or science is your fancy, there's tons of great ways you can dive in to support the Newport Chapter's efforts around Otter Rock Marine Reserve this summer at Devil's Punchbowl State Park. Here's just a few:

Surf and Stewardship Camps

Once again we're partnering up with Neighbors for Kids to support Surf and Stewardship Camps on Friday afternoons, July through August, from 1-4pm at Otter Rock / Devil's Punchbowl State Park. We need volunteers to support lots of activities from surf instructors in the water to science in the tidepools or stewardship on the beach this is a great volunteer opportunity for a Friday afternoon!

Microplastic Cleanups: Every Sunday

The situation is serious at Otter Rock with microplastic accumulation. This year's unprecedented plastic debris event has had a massive impact on nearly the entire beach fronting the Marine Reserve from Devil's Punchbowl down to Beverly Beach State Park. Thousands of pounds of microplastics have been removed and thousands more remain - we need your volunteer help, every Sunday the Newport Chapter conducts a cleanup, come join us!
